About

For the men who wear things out.

Last Thread is a small editorial site about gifts for men. Not the kind of gifts that get unwrapped, admired for ten minutes, and then live in a drawer. The kind he'll actually use. The kind he'll wear until the elbows go through and then ask if you can find another one.

Most of what we cover is unglamorous. Socks. Pocket knives. Cast iron. A flashlight small enough to clip to a keychain. The dopp kit he's been meaning to replace since his honeymoon. We try to write about each one the way a friend would tell you about it — with enough detail that you can tell whether it's right for him, and a sense of humor about the whole thing.

We're not trying to teach you about "premium" anything. We're not going to use the word "curated" if we can help it. We're not going to tell you the watch costs three thousand dollars. We're going to tell you that the strap he's worn for ten years is finally cracked and here are three you could replace it with for the price of a tank of gas.

A note about how this works: most of the product links on this site are affiliate links. If you buy something we recommend, we get a small commission. It doesn't cost you anything extra. We only link to things we'd give to our own dads, brothers, and husbands. If we wouldn't put one on the kitchen table at Christmas, it doesn't go on the site.

Thanks for reading. If there's something you've been looking for and can't find a good version of, write to us — we read everything.
